British police are reportedly closing a multimillion-dollar investigation into the death of Madeleine McCann.

According to prosecutors in Germany, German prosecutors in 2020 sensationally claimed with "100 percent" certainty that three-year-old Madeleine had been murdered. If true, it may mean London Metropolitan Police detectives will not pursue a convicted pedophile.

When the most recent tranche of British taxpayer funding runs out, the small detective team in Operation Grange will be disbanded in about six months.

Currently, there are no plans to continue the investigation, a newspaper source said.

"We can now see the end of the road for Operation Grange, and the team should complete its work by autumn."
