A meltdown at an airport embarrasses 'Cancun Karen' Ted Cruz on Jimmy Kimmel
Throughout Jimmy Kimmel's career, Ted Cruz has been a source of controversy, from their one-on-one charity basketball match to the Texas senator's unrelenting and "embarrassing" loyalty to Donald Trump.
Until today, perhaps, when Cruz got himself into yet another air travel debacle. The late-night host was delighted when Cruz took the time to abandon his own constituents for Cancun during a freezing power outage last year.
As Kimmel opened his show on Monday, he gleefully shared footage of a man appearing to be Ted Cruz having a heated exchange with an airport employee in Bozeman, Montana, before security was called to calm the man down .
Kimmel told the audience, "Apparently he didn't make it and he went to the manager," adding, "He should stay out of airports, right?"
In the absence of audio in the viral video, Kimmel decided to add his own "fairly accurate approximation of what Cancun Karen complained about" before explaining why this story is "especially funny."
Cruz made this wildly dubious statement just two weeks ago: "Almost without exception, every single time I'm on an airplane, the captain or a flight attendant will come up to me, give me a hug and say, 'Thank you for fighting for us'."
