Pokémon has been around for 25 years
The best-selling chapters ever were those featuring the first generation of monsters, Pokémon Red, Blue, and Green (Japanese version never launched in the West), with over 31 million copies sold.
Pokémon Gold and Silver sold over 23 million copies, and Pokémon Sword and Shield, which broke the record of 6 million sales the first week of release, sold more than 22 million units, marking the entry of the saga onto Nintendo Switch.
Having started out with only 151 Pokémon, they have now grown to an incredible 898, gradually introduced over 8 generations of games that speak 9 languages.
