Combining robotics and artificial intelligence to create a smart mattress

AI and robots join forces to improve sleep: as a result of the collaboration between the Maxres company and the BioRobotics Institute of the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies, a hi-tech mattress is born to guarantee comfort and quality of sleep, adapting in real time to the user.

It includes an innovative deformable valve capable of integrating an intelligent control logic that allows the intelligent mattress to adapt to people's needs, ensuring ergonomics in posture.

A prototype developed as a result of cooperation between Maxres, a small company from Città di Castello that produces camper fittings and outdoor furniture, and Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna, will revolutionize the quality of sleep due to the adaptability of the design.

It should be possible to customize the mattress to ensure ergonomics in posture.

It will be possible to update mattress customization configurations via a smartphone app, as well as possibly share them with the community, using a cloud service.

Professor Emeritus Paolo Dario of the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies, Scientific Director of the ARTES 4.0 Competence Center, explained that this project is built on the synergy between three factors:

There are many companies such as Maxres that are leaders in their sector and pioneers in ''opening up new technological and industrial horizons, and many universities are producing faculty of the highest quality.

Based on the solid foundations of scientific research of excellence, the Sant'Anna School addresses technological challenges that are complex and multidisciplinary.
